“The increase in MSP of all crops and FRP of sugarcane is negligible as compared to the increasing cost of cultivation. The rate of sugarcane was increased by 165 percent in the tenure of 9 and a half years by the Congress government, that is, an increase of more than 16% every year. But in the 7-year tenure of the BJP government, there was a total increase of 16% i.e. 10 times less than the Congress,” he said.
“In Haryana till 2005, farmers were given only Rs 117 for sugarcane but the rate was raised to Rs 310, increasing it by a historic Rs 193, after the Congress government came to power. In its seven years, the BJP government has increased the rate of sugarcane by only Rs 362, increasing the rate only by Rs 52,” he said.
Hooda said the price of petrol and diesel, cost of sugarcane cultivation, farm labour, fertiliser, seeds, pesticides, insecticides and farming equipment have increased significantly. “During the Congress government, the price of diesel in Haryana was about Rs 56 per liter, which has now increased to about Rs 90 per liter and Diesel alone has seen an increase of about 62 per cent,” he said.
“The increase in MSP and sugarcane price is negligible compared to the cost increase in the last 7 years but there farmers today are facing several other problems. During the Congress government, farmers used to get payment for sugarcane within 15 days. But during the current government, farmers' arrears remain stuck in the mills for several months. Even today, farmers have hundreds of crores of rupees outstanding in Narayangarh Mill, the payment of which is pending,” he said.

हुड्डा ने कहा कि इस सरकार के कार्यकाल में पेट्रोल-डीजल के दाम, गन्ना खेती की लागत, लेबर से लेकर खाद, बीज, दवाई और खेती उपकरणों पर खर्च में बेतहाशा बढ़ोत्तरी हुई है। सिर्फ डीजल की बात करें तो कांग्रेस सरकार के समय हरियाणा में इसका रेट लगभग 𝟓𝟔 रुपये प्रति लीटर था, जो अब बढ़कर लगभग 𝟗𝟎 रुपये प्रति लीटर पर पहुंच चुका है। अकेले डीजल में ही लगभग 𝟔𝟐 फीसदी बढ़ोतरी हो चुकी है। पिछले 𝟕 साल में जो लागत बढ़ी है उसकी तुलना में बढ़ोतरी न के बराबर है। हुडडा ने याद दिलाया कांग्रेस सरकार के दौरान किसानों को 𝟏𝟓 दिनों के भीतर गन्ने की पेमेंट हो जाती थी। लेकिन मौजूदा सरकार के दौरान कई-कई महीने तक मिलों में किसान का बकाया फंसा रहता है। आज भी नारायणगढ़ मिल में किसानों का सैंकड़ों करोड़ रूपया बकाया है, जिसका भुगतान बाकी है।
